Mango Circle Water Main Addition
Several homeowners have come forward to get Town water on Mango Circle. It is a project in this year’s budget. As more people hear that water is coming, more are asking to connect. Besides adding water service to several residents, we are adding a fire hydrant in the area to improve fire protection. The Town collects $300 per connection to cover the costs of setting the meter and we collect $2080 which is a pass through paid to Palm Springs. The home owner must also pay the cost to connect from the meter to their home. The project has grown from 3 homes to all 16 homes now wanting water. Easements are still being processed, construction is complete on Phase 1. AECOM is working on permitting Phase 2. Zoie, Kyle and I have been meeting with the residents at their homes to answer questions and notarize and witness easements documents. The health department allowed us to add approximately 242 feet of additional water line to this phase allowing us to install the second new fire hydrant.
FDFC and Renovate America have been moving forward in adding more governments to our District. Orlando and Miami Dade were approved at the April FRED Board Meeting. Currently, Renovate America says we have approximately 1.5M homes in the District. Palm Beach County approved their ordinance allowing PACE Districts within the County on April 4, 2017. Renovate America has been working with Natalie Schneider (Palm Beach County staff and a Lake Clarke Shores resident) to get the FRED Limited Participation Agreement signed. On July 19, 2017, the HERO program through Renovate America officially launched in Lake Clarke Shores. I am working with HERO staff to get access to a reporting portal so we can see projects completed in Lake Clarke Shores. Palm Beach County will likely be approving FRED on August 15th. The next FRED Board Meeting will be August 17th in Orlando.
2017 Summer Fishing Camp
This year’s summer fishing camp was very successful. There were 51 registered participants. We want to give a big thanks to resident David Aagaard and Building Up Sports Academy, Inc. for making this event possible. We are looking forward to next year.
Sewer Rates for Seminole Manor for 2018
In 2013 we renegotiated our sewer rates with the City of Lake Worth. At that time, we were able to reduce our rates by $2.00 per thousand gallons of water used. Each year since we have seen modest rate increases. Last year we were presented with a proposed large rate increase but were able to forestall it. Last year’s proposed increase was because of a Palm Beach County required sewer lift station capital maintenance project. This year, after significant analysis and negotiations with the East Central Regional Sewage Treatment Plant Board of Directors, we will have a $0.475 per thousand gallons sewer rate increase for the Seminole Manor Community. This would raise the average monthly sewer bill by $2.14. This year’s assault on the rates is from the East Central Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant emergency capital expenditure. The rates we pay Lake Worth are made up of ECR R&R, PBC R&R, LW R&R, and Lake Worth Operating costs. Lake Worth has been doing a very good job in maintaining their costs.
