Mango Circle Water Main Addition
Several homeowners have come forward to get Town water on Mango Circle. It is a project in this year’s budget. As more people hear that water is coming, more are asking to connect. Besides adding water service to several residents, we are adding a fire hydrant in the area to improve fire protection. The Town collects $300 per connection to cover the costs of setting the meter and we collect $2080 which is a pass through paid to Palm Springs. The home owner must also pay the cost to connect from the meter to their home. The project has grown from 3 homes to 7 homes now wanting water. While easements are still being processed, we are ready to move forward with construction on the beginning of the project. We issued a Notice to Proceed to the contractor Johnson Davis effective July 11th.
Sewer Rates for Seminole Manor for 2018
In 2013 we renegotiated our sewer rates with the City of Lake Worth. At that time, we were able to reduce our rates by $2.00 per thousand gallons of water used. Each year since we have seen modest rate increases. Last year we were presented with a proposed large rate increase but were able to forestall it. Last year’s proposed increase was because of a Palm Beach County required sewer lift station capital maintenance project. This year, after significant analysis and negotiations with the East Central Regional Sewage Treatment Plant Board of Directors, we will have a $0.475 per thousand gallons sewer rate increase for the Seminole Manor Community. This would raise the average monthly sewer bill by $2.14. This year’s assault on the rates is from the East Central Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant emergency capital expenditure. The rates we pay Lake Worth are made up of ECR R&R, PBC R&R, LW R&R, and Lake Worth Operating costs. Lake Worth has been doing a very good job in maintaining their costs.
Lake Worth Drainage District E-4 (Keller Canal)
LWDD has called a meeting on Monday, July 10th. We anticipate they will discuss cleaning activities planned for the Canal. Damon and I will be attending the meeting and will provide an update after the meeting.
HVAC in Town Hall
We have had a third mold issue in Town Hall. Seimens has provided a proposal for fixing the existing controls system. The Town Council will have a proposal from Seimens on the Town Council Consent Agenda to authorize the repairs and improvements. The HVAC system for the servers in Town Hall is also having electrical issues. The repairs for that system are authorized and planned for the week of July 10th.
LWDD-17 HDPE Directional Drill
Work is just about complete on this project. We are going through the Developer Agreement the Town signed with DR Horton to close out the Auburn Park development. The agreement pays DR Horton for a new sub-regional sewer lift station they built for the Town; the Town gets ownership of the sewer lift station, the water lines, and the sewer lines installed to serve this new community.
