2016 Loop Around the Lake
The Loop was a huge success this year. We had 185 participants (more than a 30% increase over last year). For the second year in a row the fastest runner overall was a woman. We had new sponsors this year including J.C. Martin Jewelers, and Tomasello Pest Control that provided our prize money. Once again our very own Dunkin Donuts was the Premiere Sponsor. We want to thank Mary, Zoie, Eliza, Wes and Vice Mayor Mayes for all their hard work on the event.
Bank Loan for Utility Projects
The new $1,250,000 loan for Utility construction projects closed November 19, 2016. The loan interest rate is 2.65% on a 10 year term. The Mayor and Mr. Schoech signed documents from SunTrust Bank on Thursday the 18th. Notice to Proceed on the LWDD 17 Directional Drilling Construction Contract with Johnson Davis, Inc. was issued December 6, 2016. The Contract has a 90 day construction window. Work will be ongoing through the Holidays. We appreciate what Charlie has done to get all of our documents ready.
Florida Boating Improvement Program (FBIP) Grant
Docks and More, Inc., the low bidder for the new docks at the Town boat ramp is scheduled to begin construction December 12th. The Docks include rubber bumpers on the piling. Lights are being selected and tested for the pile caps. Temporary lights will be installed until our test program results are known and the new lights arrive. Power – The conduit is installed and FPL installed the meter so we have power at the site. An LED area light has been installed on our pole. Fencing – Fencing has been installed. Security – We are working with Access Computers on the cameras and the line of sight connection to Town Hall. The Boat Ramp will have limited capacity during the week of 12/12/16.
We had twenty eight entries for the parade and a large number of Police Vehicles from our neighboring departments. New entries this year included members of the Forest Hill Community High School Marching Band (trailer mounted) and a group of Model A’s and Model T’s lead by Bill Snow from AECOM. Pictures of the event are on Facebook and our Website. The participants in the Parade were grateful that we have such an excellent community event. The Taekwondo School lead by resident Bridget Hammond said they’d be here with two floats next year. On a sad note, Representative David Silvers grandfather passed away and he was not able to participate in the festivities.
Forest Hill Community High School choral group Dimension 20 performed again at this year’s Jim and Judy Tacket Annual Christmas Tree lighting event. It was estimated we had approximately 350 people in attendance. Thanks to Bill Murphy for his new photo tent this year. Eliza, Mary, Brian, Kyle, Damon, Officer Chris, Detective Dana, Sargent Bill, Anita, Reserve Officer Sal and Wes worked tirelessly on both events Saturday.
