2016 Recodification
We expect to transmit our code of ordinances to the Municode Corporation the last week of September.  Any significant code changes need to be heard on first reading in July and second reading and adoption in August.  Please let me know if there are specific things we need to change within the code as soon as possible.

Surveillance at the Town Hall
The surveillance system at Town Hall needs to be upgraded.  A growing number of parents recognize Town Hall, the park and the parking lot as a neutral and safe location. The server has been completed and is recording; the cameras at Town Hall are recording.  In preparation for the “line-of-sight” connections to the four cameras proposed for the boat ramp, the large black olive tree in the southeast corner of the Police Department parking lot has been removed.  We are evaluating the purchase of a communications tower behind Town Hall, the installation of a pole at the Boat Ramp, new tag reading cameras at the Barbados/West Lake intersection, and the communication disks.  We have also been discussing with FPL, a new power panel at the boat ramp.  Most of this is part of the new docks at the Boat Ramp.  Some additional work inside the building is required, so you may see ceiling tiles moved from time to time.

Lake Clarke Shores Community Redevelopment Agency
Staff, the Mayor, and Dr. Kim Delaney from Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council will attend the Board of County Commissioners Board meeting on July 12th.  The BCC will consider our request to create a CRA.  Palm Beach County staff is recommending approval of the Resolution and an Interlocal Agreement allowing Lake Clarke Shores to create the CRA.  Mr. Schoeck and Mr. Doney are assisting the Town Clerk with the necessary documents to legally create the CRA.  The intent is to have the Town Council sit as the CRA Board of Directors and to have all the legal documents and matters complete by October1, 2016.  The 2017 CRA Budget will be $0.  Next year, we will approve a CRA budget in the same way we create and approve the Utility Budget.

Blueway Trail Project
Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council (TCRPC) received a Notice to Proceed with the design of the boatlift and the other amenities associated with the Blueway Trail Project from the Department of Economic Opportunity this week.  Lake Clarke Shores, Lake Worth and others are working on the Engineering Consultant Selection with TCRPC.  The website, BluewayTrail.com has the latest meeting recaps.

2015 Audit
The Auditors have finished the 2015 Audit and will be presenting it at the July 12th Council Meeting.  We are continuing to work with them on accounting procedure changes.  The Town is in very good financial shape, however, we always have room to improve and the auditors are making recommendations which help us get better each year.  We are also making changes to our accounting software to be more efficient and responsive to the customers.  By the end of the fall we should have the ability to allow customers to see their utility accounts in addition to making payments on line.
